    Seth, I completely agree. After reading your post I did a little investigating and looked up the article referenced, “How have agricultural policies influenced caloric consumption in the U.S.?” from the journal Health Economics. The authors constructed some model using numbers from the OECD and WTO to calculate the link between subsidies, agro-production and caloric intake. I may not be a statistician but that kind of limited dataset is enough to tell me that this study has definitely missed some important elements..i think the author was just ‘wowed’ or dumbfounded by their intricate graphs.. that argument is definitely still up for debate.
