Super Bowl Survey!

Maybe we can get this going in the comments on Sunday, but I thought it would be fun to share a little about what we’re eating while watching the Super Bowl/attending a Super (or Puppy) Bowl party.  Two interesting questions to start with:  1) What is the most stereotypical Super Bowl party/football watching food you ate while watching the Super Bowl?  2) What is the least stereotypical?

  1. Most typical? Chili and pizza. Isn’t that right?

How’s this for atypical? My son Eli is pulling for the Giants because of Eli Manning. He will be a wearing his blue Eli Manning number 10 jersey and sitting on the edge of his seat if the game is close. So I asked him what he wanted as a special meal for the game, and he said without thinking, “pasta with white clam sauce.” I told him he couldn’t have that because it isn’t American enough.

So he asked for rice and beans instead.

My prediction, by the way — Giants, 24-20.

I like that prediction. But I think Eli (the bigger one) will have his way w/ the Pats’ secondary. Giants 31-17.

On my food horizon: indoor pulled pork (with liquid smoke/smoked paprika for that winter-in-a-city bbq flavor).

Well, my super bowl treats were definitely outside the trajectory of ‘typical’ football watching fanfare..I made sauce with gimme lean on whole wheat angel hair pasta with left over roasted vegetables, ha!

Basically it came down to the expiration of the Gimme Lean breathing down my neck..btw, for those who don’t know, Gimme Lean, a play off of ‘Jimmy Dean’, is faux meat, burgerish, composed of soy protein and some other interesting’s better than it sounds and rather versatile!

Dylan, your pulled pork sounds tasty..
