Series: Foodstuffs inexpensively proffered by various religious organizations

I thought you might enjoy this unsystematic look at various foodstuffs proffered by various religious organizations, field-tested by a Philadelphia-based writer. After reading in The New Yorker about the Church of Scientology’s Celebrity Centre’s lunch offerings, Dan Packel asks, “Do other religions offer equally worthy opportunities for subsidized dining?”

He reports on his findings in: Pancakes with the Episcopalians; Lunch with the SikhsBean Pie With The Nation Of Islam; and Pastitsio with the Greek Orthodox.

Guys – are you starting to think that writing about food isn’t really about the food?
